They were the Overkill, Underkill, Harbinger, Sky Ark and Stargate. When your other dice fail you, turn to the Exotics for epic roleplaying! [Please note that we are in the middle of fulfilling our backer orders. Those orders will be shipped prior to orders from this Pre-Order store. Dice will be available for a limited time. Update #2: Important and Time Sensitive!
about 4 years ago – Sun, Feb 23, 2020 at 11:38:15 PM

Hi, all.

Thanks again for backing this Kickstarter. You guys are awesome and I've appreciated your enthusiasm! As you can see, I posted Stretch Goal #2 earlier! We made it to #1 - yay!

There is a wall of text here, but I promise it's all important, good stuff. If you don't read it, that's fine, of course, but it was needed to outline some changes. If you trust that I've made good decisions so far and will likely continue to do so, maybe skip this if you don't want to know stuff up front, or skim it. Whatever you want to do. I'm just trying to avoid confusion and surprises.

A lot of good things have happened in a short period of time for this campaign. I'm excited, but also mindful of the bigger picture. I've listened to a number of comments and PMs, and I've done some brainstorming. While it is impossible to ensure that every backer is head over heels in love with every decision or every single aspect of any campaign, I've reviewed this one, and feel some changes would be beneficial to the largest percentage of folks I've heard from this far. As ever, I would love feedback on all this, and the sooner the better, because I would like to incorporate them by Monday night to minimize confusion and maximize the campaign going forward. Okay, let's . . . ahem, roll . . .

Voting:

First because someone asked for clarification: Under Stretch Goals, where it reads: "Vote on which new color or D20 will be unlocked", that simply means when we get around to voting, only 1 item displayed under Stretch Goal 1 will become unlocked for anyone to select at the end of the campaign using the Pledge Manager, in addition to both red and black Overkills. No other variation of a die is unlocked—just what is shown in that goal.

Currently: Voting is at the end of the campaign. Any specific die and color combination that isn't unlocked via vote is pushed into the next Stretch Goal for another chance of getting picked until we run through all the Stretch Goals (whether that's 2 or 3 or 7, dunno.)

Proposed Change: Voting starts the moment I am able to set up a voting method after a Stretch Goal is unlocked and ends 3 days later, or whenever the next Stretch Goal is reached, or at the end of the campaign, whichever comes first. The vote is then revealed, the Stretch Goal in question is updated to reflect the winning entry, and the next Stretch Goal is either posted or is updated to show the locked dice being moved forward to join the other dice up for grabs in the new goal. So, even if your favorite die isn't picked in the current Stretch Goal, it will get another chance!

Therefore, the most recent Stretch Goal is always still open for voting (as well as higher ones, if any.)  That would fulfill the original vision for the campaign of giving you the power of voting, to hopefully minimize any complaints about not being able to vote on earlier Stretch Goals if one arrives late. This enables QT Games to reward early backers, while still allowing late comers to vote on something. I think this proposed concept is a solid one that should please the vast majority of my current backers. The sooner this change is implemented, the better, IMO. So, I will be starting to prepare the changes, which will take place tomorrow, unless I hear strong opposition before I make the change. I'm doing this for you guys, so I'm hoping we can work out any concerns quickly.

Expanded Stretch Goal #1: I feel that I should expand Stretch Goal #1 to include the Underkill, as it has become quite popular, as well as the blue Overkill. And then, barring any slight tweaks that might arise, the plan would be to include

Stretch Goal #2 would then be updated. I will also be adding a secret "Harbinger" D12 to the mix in Stretch Goal #2 to replace the Underkill and Blue Overkill. (I may add in a second color for the Underkill, but I'm not sure which one yet. Thoughts?) The Harbinger is one I've never shown anyone before. It is so near and dear to my heart that I hand made a few, crude, homemade versions of it that I use currently in 3 of my board game designs (sadly, I wasn't able to finish the one I wanted to give you free as a Print-N-Play during this campaign, but I'll make it available down the road for use with the Harbinger (Only 1 Harbinger is needed for general use, but 3 has some really interesting odds and is what I use in all my games.) That D12 has much potential for many other uses. It could be fairly easily slipped into any RPG or board game to enhance it in fresh new ways!

The Harbinger D12 is covered with a few different symbols (Including a skull with 3 slices across the head that makes you wonder if a certain Marvel mutant might have had something to do with it.) The different symbols can be assigned interesting outcomes. - even more when multiple Harbingers are used together. Currently, I roll 3 Harbingers at a time and they affect each other's outcomes. It has been a lot of fun, so I'll share them in Stretch Goal #2, in case anyone's interested. I'm even going to start using them as the main dice in my Epic Destinies roleplaying game when I get around to playtesting it. But as always, you will have plenty of dice to choose from for voting, so if one doesn't resonate with you, there should be other cool ones to choose from!

As for this campaign, I have no intention of making changes on this scale again during the Kickstarter as I want to provide a stable, pleasant environment for you, where you know what to expect and have more options. I feel these changes help support that (at least after I make them.)

Just a reminder - there are still many of you who have not weighed in on what you would like, so if you have a preference, please let me hear from you soon, either here or in PMs, as tomorrow is the big day of changes. Thanks!!!

Have an amazing week, all!

Update #1: Overkill Unlocked!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Feb 21, 2020 at 12:12:28 AM

Yay, we did it! Thank you so much! Because of you wonderful backers, the glorious Overkill is unlocked! And we did it in under 24 hours—that's terrific. I can't wait to get you the dice, but there's still more to come. If you are like me, you want to see those amazing Sky Arks and Stargates break through the dimensional barrier into our universe as well! If you share the project link and we can manage to keep the momentum you've helped generate, we'll see even more cool dice unlocked!

I thought you might like to see our original orangy-yellow Stargate die, which we shelved. We really liked the design, but ultimately decided the numbers needed to be a little larger, and the design simplified a little for readability. We couldn't be happier with the new Stargate die (See picture following this one for reference.)

And here's a pic of the new Stargate D20 in purple with yellow paint. The factory has a higher minimum for ordering the purple ones, below, so we weren't able to make them part of Stretch Goal 1, but they may return later. We'll just have to see how things go. Me? I love them both!

As we mentioned on the Kickstarter page, we designed other cool dice, and are also working on designing full polyhedral sets for the Sky Ark D20 and the new Stargate D20, but those, too, will have to wait and see where this campaign heads. There's so much we can accomplish together, but right now we need to focus on reaching Stretch Goal 1 and voting on whether to unlock the Sky Ark or Stargate die, as well as Friendly shipping!

I can't thank you guys enough for making our custom dice possible. Let's keep moving forward!

Cheers — Bob
